[ When Cloud first saw the network post broadcast by Qrow, at first he didn't think much of it. The Rings of Eternal Promise that fetched quite a price with that merchant, Lumi, at first didn't register with him either. Dead man? Probably. Just kidding. ...maybe? It's not his concern, regardless of the fact that this was Weiss' older sister from that masquerade months ago. ]

[ For her sister... That's when it hits him. Possibly. It puts that certain educational(?) video into perspective. But more than that, was a memory that blinks through his thoughts. And he shakes his head, dispelling it with a huff. She went through all of that — just so she can... ]

It was delivered by someone this morning because Midorima couldn't come. He has basketball practice.
This is so cute, Winter. I've never been asked out before!
At least, not by someone I like. Am I supposed to reply right away? Would it be better to say "yes" in person? What do you think?
Should I ask if we should match colours for the ball?

[Never been asked out? What's with these unmotivated and lazy young men. The arrangement is a little tacky...there should be roses or lilies instead of daisies, and the basketballs! Ugh! But once she realizes it may be a play on 'asking her to the BALL' she concedes a little that it might be a little clever. Ugly, but clever.]

[But all of her opinions in the world don't matter, because Weiss is delighted, so young Midorima did well.]

I believe a nicely handwritten card or similarly 'silly' portrayal of acceptance delivered to his door would match his response. Perhaps YES piped with icing onto a homemade cupcake.

Afterward, yes, it would be appropriate to discuss details such as clothing, corsages or boutennoires, how you mean to arrive, and so forth.

[Winter, who is not a barbarian, always reads the letter first before examining her gifts. It's difficult, however, with the distracting tacky fringe looped about some sort of gauzy material. Eventually she'll realize it's a scarf, but for now, all she can think is that this will likely wind up being donated to the Nicewill store. Sorry, Cloud, she's kind of a snob.]

[Her brow arches as she reads, for she's not sure what he could have possibly gained from challenging her. He obviously did it with the intention of keeping her distracted from her own upset feelings. Her other brow joins the first when he mentions there's a Barrierette included. That was surprisingly generous, as those are not easy to obtain. It's deeply appreciated that he would make an effort to keep her safe. From the wrong person it would be an insult, but she knows it was kindly meant from Cloud.]

[She sighs and picks up her purse, heading out to do some last minute gift shopping. Winter has little idea what Cloud likes, except spending time with Weiss. As such, two days later, a cute little gift basket is delivered to his home for whenever he decides to return to Lunatia. It contains movie passes and concession gift cards, as well as a couple of movies she thinks Weiss would like to watch with some of this...'microwaved' popcorn that's so popular with civilians, sparkling and somewhat spendy flavored seltzer, and high quality chocolates and candy. ...Look, she's really not that talented at understanding what normal people do for movies at home, but she tried.]

Inside: A hand-painted silk sleep robe, and an expensive, diamond-encrusted hair piece, for lack of knowing what else she could possibly need or want. Hopefully they're practical enough and to her taste. )

[Goodness. Winter rarely blushes, but she's deeply touched at his note. The gifts are far too extravagant, almost alarmingly intimate, and she doesn't feel right being gifted diamonds. She'd give it back or at least argue that she can't possibly accept, but. He's not here to hear her protest. She can't exactly seek him out and demand he take them back either, who does that with their boss/commanding officer?]

[So she sits with the box on her lap, fingers curled on the rumpled sheets beneath her. It's really...too much...]

[Meanwhile, he'll be receiving Winter's gift at about the same time. It's a finely carved oak box, bearing a fine bottle of casket-aged whiskey with a certificate of authenticity. Also included are four crystal glasses and sharply hewn 'whiskey stones' meant to be chilled and added to one's drink in a way that's superior to ice -- it won't water down the precious bourbon.]

[Her own handwriting is elegant, the letters etched with such perfect penmanship that one could nearly mistake it for calligraphy. She's just fancy that way.]

[Sadly, her own note isn't the sort he's likely to preserve as a keepsake. It merely reads:]

Merry Firialia, sir. This is an ill replacement for your own set, but I hope that it will serve you just the same.

( Winter ur always too good to him... She'll see it on one of the few bookcases in his flat if she ever ventures a visit; the oak box sits with the glasses upturned atop it and the bottle beside it, joined by one or two others. All barely touched but to taste, as he's only a casually social drinker at best. And the diamonds were tiny!!! Really, it's fine. It's a single special occasion for the year, seconded only to her birthday.

The gift will clearly be appreciated for some time to come, both ways. )

[ A part of her almost wants to... stop communication with Winter for a while, but there are some things Weiss needs to know. She's only just gotten back from the Iris moon after being told she wasn't a good enough Chroma generator compared to others, and that's why she was sent back to her world to refresh herself, or something like that. Honestly, the explanation was a little confusing, but she gets the gist of it.

Once she's back in her new apartment, she makes some calls. Sanson, Cloud, Midorima all get calls. Winter deserves a call, too. Perhaps even a visit, should Winter be amenable to one, but she'll have to do it once she's back. She's already made plans with other people.

If and when Winter picks up, she'll hear Weiss' tone firm and strong. Whatever she feels about the recent events that transpired... she'll set them aside for now. This is the path she's carved for herself, so she should stand by it. ]

Winter, it's Weiss. I was told I disappeared for a few days, but I was actually back in Remnant for a few weeks.

[Oh thank the gods. Winter's been wearing herself out trying to find some sign where her sister and Qrow vanished, fearing that they were gone for good. She has to take a few moments to sit down and breathe. She's so relieved. There's no fear in Weiss's voice either. Winter permits herself a quiet smile, closing her eyes.]

[When she feels composed enough, she returns the call to open up a private line.]

I take it you arrived safely in Atlas, then? I hope all is well.

We arrived safely, yes. [ After being arrested by the Ace Ops and all, anyway. It all ended on a good note, at least.

The arrival, specifically. ]

A lot of stuff happened... I'm okay, just. . . I'm not sure I'm ready to talk about it yet.

[ Much like other things, like what happened at Haven and what her fate could have been if not for Jaune. Weiss doesn't know Winter knows already, and as far as she's concerned, this is something she doesn't see a reason to tell now. ]

It seems Qrow had disappeared home to Remnant in the last few days, and Raven found him on his return to Lunatia.
She contacted me and I'm here with him; he's not physically hurt, but— emotionally. He's drained.
He needs some time and some rest.

I just wanted to let you know that he's here again and that he's all right. Perhaps give him a few days...? So he can sort his thoughts.
It sounds like he was in Atlas for about a month's time and a lot had happened, none of it particularly good. I don't know much more than that.
